Elementary learning model shift by date and grade

On Tuesday, Jan. 19, Osseo Area Schools will begin to bring early childhood and elementary students back to school buildings for in-person learning on a phased-in basis. Below is a breakdown of this process by date and grade. 

Prior to Tuesday, Jan. 19

​All students, early childhood through grade 12, will continue to learn in the distance learning model. There will be no school for early childhood through grade 5 from Jan. 13-15 with the exception of DLA students, who will report to school on these days. There will also be no school for all District 279 students on Monday, Jan. 18 to celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.

Tuesday, Jan. 19 through Friday, Jan. 29

  • Early childhood: in-person classes resume according to original assigned schedule (not hybrid schedule).
  • Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2: return to school full-time (5 days/week) in person.
  • Grades 3, 4 and 5: continue to learn in the distance learning model.
  • Secondary (Grades 6 through 12): continue to learn in the distance learning model until further notice.
  • DLA: is not affected.

Beginning Monday, Feb. 1

  • Early childhood: in-person classes continue according to original assigned schedule (not hybrid schedule).
  • Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2: continue to attend school full-time (5 days/week) in person.
  • Grades 3, 4 and 5: return to school full-time (5 days/week) in person.
  • Secondary (Grades 6 through 12): continue to learn in the distance learning model until further notice.
  • DLA: is not affected.
